What is a “free” clinic?”
A free clinic is a medical facility offering health care on a free or very low-cost basis for individuals having little or no insurance. Though we do not charge for services, we gratefully accept donations from our patients.
Who are the patients that VTCC serves?
A: Uninsured or underinsured children, birth to eighteen years of age. We offer limited service to adults. Nearly 95% of our patients served fall below the Federal Poverty Line, are uninsured, Hispanic and most come from immigrant families. Over 60% receive no government assistance.
How do I volunteer for the clinic?
We’d love to have you join our community of volunteers helping families to thrive in Santa Fe! Here’s the link to our Get Involved page with all the details. Our volunteer needs are listed there as well as how to apply.
How do patients get in to see a doctor or dentist?
Medical or dental services are provided by appointment only and can be made by calling 983-8561 or emailing receptionist@villatherese.org. The receptionist is able to determine if the clinic can provide the requested services. If not, the caller is referred to another agency or provider who can possibly help. A doctor or a dentist is not on site full time and appointments are necessary to assist in scheduling the volunteer providers’ time. Villa Therese has a compassionate, no-questions-asked policy regarding immigration status or religious affiliation.
Where is Villa Therese located?
We are located at 1779 Hopewell St., just east of 5th Street off St Michaels Drive. Here’s a link to our Location page for information on parking and bus route directions.
What are the clinic’s sources of funding?
Villa Therese Catholic Clinic is funded by individual and community donations, grants, and with fundraising events. Patients are asked if they would like to make a donation to the clinic, but are not required to do so. For a complete list of donors, see our annual report in News and to learn about our fundraising efforts, see Events.
What federal and state requirements must be met by VTCC?
he Clinic is licensed by the New Mexico Department of Health as a limited diagnostic and treatment center and is licensed by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy as a Clinic, Class B1. Federal certification is maintained for CLIA purposes for laboratory and microscopic procedures. The Clinic is also approved for malpractice insurance coverage under the Health Resource Services Administration’s Federal Torts Claim Act coverage.
